The Tigers have made it blatantly clear that if you fall below the Mendoza line, you’re a lame duck during hunting season. On Tuesday, Detroit plans on designating shortstop Adam Everett’s contract for assignment, ending his year and a quarter stint with the Tigers. Everett was hitting just .185 this season and had an OBP of .221, seven points lower than his combined batting average as a Detroit Tiger.
Laird (.154), Raburn (.176) and Avila (.202) — you are all officially being hunted. Start hitting or you will die.
