Tim Kaine said Senate should stay out of the Redskins name controversy

bradshaw.horse

Democratic U.S. Senators whipped themselves in a PC frenzy two years ago when they publicly condemned the Washington Redskins team name in a letter to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, instead of to Daniel Snyder who owns the team and the brand.

Tim Kaine and his Virginia colleague Mark Warner were the only Democratic Senators not to play along.

Asked to explain, Kaine said he did not care for the name but that the Senate should stay out of it.

Hog Heaven leans Democratic, but we look askance at Dems who invent offense where none exists. (Excessive political correctness gave rise to Donald Trump who makes a fetish of incorrectness.)

Whatever you think of Kaine, his stance is the correct one for government. This is a free country. Outside of safety, equality and criminal activity, private decisions by people and business is not their concern.
