The San Francisco Giants hold a slim 1/2 game lead over the San Diego Padres in the NL West thanks to their 2-1 win over the Colorado Rockies last night. Giants starter Tim Lincecum went 8 innings, giving up just 1 run on 2 hits. If the Rockies lineup wasn’t enough for him (and it looks like it wasn’t), Lincecum had to deal with a little home cooking as well.
Lincecum wanted nothing to do with the ball given to him by umpire Laz Diaz, uttering the quote of the night after he got rid of the unwanted baseball.
Fuck this juiced ball bullshit.
The ruckus brought about by Giants radio announcer Jon Miller is a bit unwarranted, as pitchers reject new baseballs all the time. Still, Lincecum’s expression is pretty entertaining.
You can’t blame the Rockies for trying though. Last night’s game produced the fewest number of combined hits (5) in Coors Field history.
