Tim Tebow Looking at Baseball Career

mail-5

Sometimes…you’ve just gotta know when to quit.

Onetime NFL quarterback (and current host of FOX’s “Home Free”) Tim Tebow has, apparently, officially decided to hang up his football cleats and try on a different pair.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the former Heisman Trophy winner has been training in Arizona and Los Angeles for nearly a year to, hopefully, transition from the gridiron to the baseball diamond.

The rub, dude turns 29 Sunday and hasn’t played baseball on a “full-time basis” for more than a decade. That said, back when baseball was Tebow’s focus…the guy could rake.

During his junior year of high school, Tebow hit .494 with four home runs. It’s said that he even “captured the attention of scouts”.

“He had a strong arm and had a lot of power. If he would have been there his senior year he definitely would have had a good chance to be drafted,” scout Stephen Hargett told WEEI. “He had leverage to his swing. He had some natural loft. He had some good power. He was a good athlete. He had enough arm for that position. He was a left-handed hitter with strength and some size.”

More recently, Tebow joined a Memphis high school team for some batting practice. The result? He apparently saw 15 pitches and blasted all but three out of the ballpark.

So, what’s next? Turns out, the guy has already invited all 30 Major League teams to a workout at the end of August. One guy who completely believes Tebow has a chance is longtime big leaguer Gary Sheffield.

Incidentally, should Tebow draw some interest, it won’t be the first time it’s happened. In 2012, the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs had hoped to lure the then-Denver Broncos quarterback out to their ballpark with Cowboy Monkeys.

True story.
