However, Dr. Daniel Kraft, the director of Riley Sports Medicine, isn’t overly optimistic.
“It would be very difficult in view of how long it took him to recover from the last one to think he’s going to be back in three weeks,” Kraft said. “I would be surprised if he recovers and is back before the season (ends).”
Kraft was quick to emphasize he has no details on Collie’s latest concussion. Individuals, he noted, respond differently. One person’s threshold for suffering a subsequent concussion likely isn’t the same as another’s.
There is no general guideline for a player’s return.
“We think we’re better now than we were a couple of years ago,” Kraft said of dealing with concussion issues, “but we still don’t know 100 percent. There are no clear answers.”
