It’s Wednesday, and its way past time to applaud the defense for their work Sunday against the Green Bay Packers. The Packers scored 5 touchdowns, but two came on short drives based on failed onside kick calls, and another drive was stopped in a three and out but converted due to a punting mishap that easilly could have given the Bucs a first down in the Green Bay Redzone. In the end, it wasn’t to be, but the Bucs defense played lights out for most of the game, and several of the teams mvps from that game are on the defensive side of the ball!
Only this link will let you check out the video in full 1080P HD
Albert Hanesworth- Come back at noon for a write up about him, he’s got the Bucs thinking maybe this veteran free agency thing isnt such a bad idea afterall.
Adrian Clayborn- only 1/2 a sack away from last years DL sack record of 4.5 by Styles G White. With 6 games left Clayborn is showing he’s going to be a player.
Aqib Talib probably had his best game as a Buc, maybe ever. Only one play stands out as a dud, lining off the WR too far in Red Zone Goal Line protection, and he paid the price for it with a slant in for a TD. Still, we dont know the fault.
Elbert Mack had a critical INT that could have been the play that saved the game.
Brian Price got a sack, and the D line in general only gave up 55 yard rushing to Green Bay running backs, with Rodgers gaining 28 himself and Punter Masthay getting 6 on top of that.
For the better part of three years now the defense has been a work in progress. From the ill advised promotion of Jim Bates to defensive coordinator in 2009 to his firing and replacement by Raheem Morris after another horrible performance against New Orleans at home. But this year that same defensive performance was creeping back in. Morris put a stop to it, but its up to the Players now to show everyone who the real Bucs defense is.
We know this team needs two new linebackers and was missing its best safety in Tanard Jackson, but T Jack is not in great playing shape, and he wont be until preseason 2012. But for now, and for the last 6 games of the year, the Bucs can hang their hats on this one season changing performance by the whole unit.
