Time to Panic?

I doubt it.

While that clears up some uncertainty in regards to what’s up with Saturday, we still don’t know the severity of the right foot injury to left tackle Charlie Johnson. We’ve asked. We still don’t know. The latest from Colts coach Jim Caldwell is it sometimes takes time to evaluate such an injury. That isn’t exactly a pick-me-up comment to read into. It suggests to me it could be serious and Johnson will also miss some time, probably extended. Just an educated guess based on what little has been said.

Rookie guard Jacques McClendon has also missed time with an undisclosed injury. No word on his status either. That’s the one thing about preseason. Being vague about such things flies because there isn’t an injury report, like in the regular season. I can also understand the team’s hesitancy to want to share specifics because you know every other team is paying attention and takes notice of what ails a player. Case in point, the Colts’ release didn’t reveal which knee Saturday had scoped.
