If the All-Star Break hadn’t broken things up a little, Red Sox Nation might be in a little bit of a panic. Yes, everyone is concerned about being swept, but that was against the team with the best record in baseball and the game was on the road, in Disneyland, er, the Big A, or whatever they call it now.
The bigger story is that the Sox have dropped 10 of their last 12 road games. They are now a game and a half behind the Rays.
When you want to right a ship you need…Mariners. And aren’t they looking like the perfect team to help get the Sox back to their winning ways. The Mariners own the worst record in the AL (38-60) and have lost eight of their last 11 games.
If the Sox can sweep the Mariners and then welcome Papi back for the series vs. the Yankees, things will be looking up, and we will all forget about this mid-summer slide.
