With their second seventh-rounder and their final pick in the 2011 NFL draft, 251st overall, the Tennessee Titans selected defensive back Tommie Campbell from California University of Pennsylvania.
For a new draft pick, Campbell is an older player, already 23. He started his college career at Pitt in the fall of 2005, but wasn’t sufficiently interested in the more academic aspects of college football and left Pitt after his sophomore season and then spent only a year at Edinboro. After two years out of college, he got another chance at CUP and got drafted.
Campbell is listed at 6’3″, 205-pounds who started four games at cornerback. He was timed at 4.31 and 4.33 in the 40-yard dash in post-season work this year. Jonathan Hutton reports the expectation is Campbell will be a safety for the Titans. When he started his college career, he played safety and linebacker.
