Continuing the trend that started with the return of Jevon Kearse, the Titans brought back another former successful former player, signing WR Justin McCareins to a one-year contract.
McCareins was originally a fourth-round pick by the Titans in 2001 and spent his first three years in Nashville before going to the Jets in a trade as a restricted free agent. Alas for Jets fans, he was generally less successful for Mike Heimerdinger there than in Tennessee and fell even further out of favor after Dinger’s departure. Of course, a 42% catch rate like he had in 2005 and 2007 probably wouldn’t endear much of anyone to anybody (admittedly, ,2006 was better).
Per the Tennessean, McCareins’ deal is for a mere one year, about a million total. I guess McCareins will fill the role played this past year of Eric Moulds, receiver who’s been in the league more than five years who probably won’t do that much.
