One of the NFL’s most drab franchises in recent years, which finished last in arguably the NFL’s worst division, is going to be quite relevant in the months leading up to the 2016 NFL draft.
The Titans own the top overall pick, and what they do with that pick will be the topic of plenty of discussion. According to Pro Football Talk they could trade down and still get the left tackle they need to better protect Marcus Mariota.
PFT noted that several mock drafts had Mississippi offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil going to the Titans. However, NFL draft analyst Mike Mayock said there isn’t much of a difference between Tunsil and Notre Dame offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley. That means the Titans could get an offensive lineman who possibly could be better than Tunsil and net several more draft picks in a trade for the top pick.
Of course, what happens this week at the NFL Scouting Combine could blow all this conjecture to bits. But regardless of what unfolds in Indianapolis, rumors about trade offers the Titans might or might not be hearing will fly right up until Roger Goodell takes the podium on April 28.
