Titans stand pat at #2, take Marcus Mariota

There seemed to be plenty of interest, but months of trade talk ended up with the Titans sticking with the second overall pick and taking Marcus Mariota.

The Hawaii product was a phenomenally productive college passer who faces a bit of a learning curve in adjusting to Ken Whisenhunt’s preferred style of quarterbacking. It’s not that there’s any reason to think Mariota won’t be able to adjust, especially if Whisenhunt is willing to come part of the way to make life easier for him, more that he was never consistently asked to do some of the thing he’ll be consistently asked to do in the NFL.

Beyond that, I don’t have a good brief Mariota take, but will be writing a lot more about him later. For the interim, really do read Eric Stoner’s piece on him, and Will Hewlett and Matt Waldman‘s video breakdown is a worth look as well.

Barring a trade, the Tennessee Titans are done for the night.
