The Tennessee Titans aim to pick themselves up in Week 6, after suffering a disheartening loss to the Cleveland Browns in Week 5, despite holding a 28-3 lead. What’s worse, is the Titans continue to get instability under center, as quarterback Jake Locker was hurt yet again last week and may not be available when the Titans welcome the Jacksonville Jaguars to town.
Despite all the negativity circling the Titans, though, this week’s showdown with their AFC South foes couldn’t come at a better time. Even with Charlie Whitehurst (likely) under center, the Titans should be favorites in this one, making the secondary market price of Titans vs Jaguars tickets a solid value at a shockingly low $70.87 on average, 46% below the season average for Titans tickets at home this year. The get-in price for the game is just $12 on the secondary market.
Jacksonville isn’t the type of opponent that spikes ticket prices, quite clearly, but the value here is all about a rivalry game combined with the fact that this should be a win for the Titans. Of course, they play the games for a reason, and the one-win Titans will still need to come out and execute their game plan against a Jaguars team still searching for their first win in 2014.
Part of that will be establishing the run and sticking to it. Tennessee actually found some success with the deep ball in week five, but getting Shonn Greene and Bishop Sankey into a groove early should help dictate the pace of this game, and also keep Whitehurst cool and collected. None of that should be rocket science, as the visiting Jaguars have the league’s worst defense and on paper don’t figure to offer much resistance.
The same may not be able to be said on the other end, though, as the Titans have just the 23rd best defense in the league and probably seem like a solid matchup for the Jaguars, as well. Tennessee will have to buckle down early and make sure the Jags don’t finally get a rushing attack going. If they can do that, they should make rookie passer Blake Bortles come off fairly predictable and force him into making errors.
