The Big East weekly football awards are out and we find two members of the UConn Huskies football team honored in running back Jordan Todman and defensive tackle Kendall Reyes. Todman was named Big East Offensive Player of the Week while Reyes was named to the Weekly Honor Roll.
Despite missing most of the second quarter in Saturday’s win over the Cincinnati Bearcats, Todman ran for 175 yards and three touchdowns on 31 carries. A key kickoff return by Robbie Frey set up Todman’s second touchdown of the day which put the Huskies firmly in control of the game. This is the second time that Todman has been named the Big East Offensive Player of the Week.
With Cincinnati driving down the field, Reyes came up with a 79 yard interception return. He would have a touchdown had Lawrence Wilson not been called for a block in the back. Reyes finished the game with 2.5 tackles for a loss.
The Huskies are back in action on Saturday night when they’ll take on former head coach Skip Holtz and the South Florida Bulls. If the Huskies can pull out a victory, they’ll represent the Big East in the BCS.
