Tokarski Outduels Helenius

TokarskiDustin Tokarski made 40 saves in his return to Syracuse and beat former teammate Riku Helenius and the Crunch 1-0 last night.

Tokarski was abruptly traded to Hamilton last month and was facing his old teammates for the first time.

The roster diminished Crunch is offensively challenged since a lot of their firepower is skating on NHL ice in Tampa. Hamilton is the AHL’s weakest offensive team and the game went according to script. (Photo/Susan Ferlita)

Hamilton hung around long enough to get a somewhat fluky goal off a skate.

Crunch forward Brett Connolly came close to tying the game with a little over 20 seconds left, when he jammed the puck past Tokarski during a scrum in the crease, but the referee had already blown the play dead.
