Ken Daniels confirmed on FOX Sports Detroit during the Red Wings-Kings telecast on Saturday night that Red Wings left winger Tomáš Tatar indeed lost his father on Friday. As unimaginable as it may seem to have to go to "work" a mere day after losing your father, Tatar bravely decided to lace up the skates anyway and play in his father's honor.
Tatar netted a bouncing rebound in front of the net to break a third-period tie, his third goal in as many games, which also turned out to be the game winner. After scoring, he looked and pointed to the skies (or roof) and gave a kiss, presumably to his passed father.
Assuming that was the case, it was a horripilating moment:
A really fantastic moment of triumph that could not have been scripted any better for the 23-year-old kid after such a tragic loss.
D4L's thoughts are with Tatar and his family.
