It was a memorable night in Springfield this evening, as Boston Celtic legends JoJo White and Tommy Heinsohn (coach) were both enshrined in the NBA Hall of Fame. This is Tommy’s second go round at the Hall, as Heinsohn was honored as a player back in 1986.
JoJo’s speech was prerecorded due to his health issues, and it was a heartfelt walk down memory lane as White thanked his mentors, teammates and family. Tommy on the other hand was as outspoken, jovial & sarcastic as ever. Cracking jokes about Dick Bavetta’s calls, stressing the importance of giving 100% on every play and discussing the great Red Auerbach’s coaching philosophies-the main one being “to destroy the will of the other team to beat you“.
