Tony LaRussa Gives Tour Of Cardinals Locker Room

Found something on YouTube, friends.

This Tony LaRussa video was published around 3 months ago, but was shot sometime after the ’11 season.

Let’s take a look:

Candidly, I’m not sure what’s going on here.

I mean, yes, I know what’s going on here. It’s a tour of the Cardinals facilities let by Tony LaRussa. And FWIW, it’s good video. The part where he’s in the equipment room is something I hadn’t seen before and it looks like it’s the world’s best Cardinals store.

But TLR retired from the Cardinals after the ’11 season.

More specifically, he announced his retirement on OCT 31 2011. The World Series ended on OCT 28 2011. There is a high probability that this was not shot in that window.

So is this just a manager remembering how it was – a trip down memory lane? Sure seems like he’s still the boss, right?

Other things I’d love to know that we’ll never know:

  • Was Matheny hired at this point? Was he cool with this?
  • Are TLRs keys still good around the stadium?
  • Did they ever get rid of that puny, bulky TV in the weight room?
  • What was in all those plastic bins?

The longer we get away from the LaRussa era, the more I miss the guy. One of the most fascinating Cardinals ever.
