Tony Parker For Chris Paul?

Seems the Spurs took a shot at trading for New Orleans Hornets point guard Chris Paul and Tony Parker For Chris Paul?the offering player was Tony Parker!

According to Hoopsworld, the Spurs offered the Hornets a deal which included Parker. The Hornets shot down the trade offer immediately.

Parker’s contract ends in the summer of 2011 and if he does not resign with the Spurs, he will be a coveted free-agent. Also, Parker’s numbers are down from last season. This season he is averaging 16.5 points per game and 5.8 assists as compared to last season when he averaged 22 points per game and 6.9 assists per game. Perhaps the Spurs are not happy with his production or it could be simply they fear Parker may not resign with the team at the end of next season and attempted to get something for him now.  It is interesting to note, knowing Parker’s contract ends next year, the Spurs front office has not made attempts to extend his contract beyond next season.

Chris Paul on the other hand is a pure point-guard. Paul may not have the stellar resume like Parker does, there is no denying Paul has better averages in steals, assists, and field goal percentage.
