Earlier this summer, America celebrated the 30th anniversary of “Top Gun”. Saturday…it’s the Potomac Nationals’ turn.
Because reasons, Washington’s Single-A affiliate will don jerseys inspired by the Tom Cruise blockbuster and play host to the Wilmington Blue Rocks.

But, trust me, the bomber jacket-inspired jersey tops are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to this thing.
You can check out the full list of festivities over at the P-Nats pun-laden website…but here are some of the highlights:
- Fans with the unlikely inclusion of “Maverick” in their full legal name get in for free.
- A Moment of Silence to remember the passing of Goose
- A Tom Cruise lookalike (let’s hope it’s this guy!) will throw out the first pitch and will be available for pictures
- The regular ballpark music will be replaced by, naturally, the “Top Gun” soundtrack.
- A mid-game singalong to “You’ve Lost That Loving Feeling” by the Righteous Brothers
- And, of course…volleyball!
