Top Ten MMA Fight Teams: #5 – Alliance MMA

bww

Mixed martial arts is about as solitary of a sport as you can find – once that cage door closes, a fighter has no one else to depend on but himself.  It is just him (or her) versus their opponent, mano a mano.  But while the sport is not a team-based one, that doesn’t mean a fighter does it all on his own – he/she depends greatly on their fight team to train them, coach them, encourage them, push them to their limits.  But what if MMA was a team sport (like it was in the old IFL)?  What fight team would be the most successful?

To try to answer that question, we are ranking the top ten MMA fight teams, based on the current fighters on the team.  Next up #5: Alliance MMA

Alliance MMA
Chula Vista, California

Head Coach: Eric Del Fierro

Prominent Fighters:

Dominick Cruz – UFC Bantamweight Champion – #5 Ranked Pound for Pound
Michael Chandler – Bellator Lightweight Champion – #9 Ranked Lightweight
Phil Davis – UFC Light Heavyweight – #6 Ranked Light Heavyweight
Alexander Gustafsson – UFC Light Heavyweight – #7 Ranked Light Heavyweight
Brandon Vera – UFC Light Heavyweight: 12-6 (1)

In just five short years, Brandon Vera and Eric Del Fierro created themselves quite the fighting team in Chula Vista, California.  Alliance MMA currently has two champions from major MMA promotions, as well as two of the best (and young) light heavyweights in the world.  And they also have quite a deep roster – with ‘The Hulk’ Mike Easton, he of the 13-1 record, also fighting at Alliance, as well as up and coming UFC heavyweight Phil De Fries.  The future appears to be bright for Alliance MMA.
