Toros’ Jones added to Pan American coaching staff

BJAs the 2011 Pan American games are set to begin in late October in Guadalajara, Mexico, one coach tied with the San Antonio Spurs’ D-League affiliate Austin Toros has been added to the staff for the American roster.

Toros head coach Brad Jones has been added to the list of coaches who will help the American team in the tournament.

USA Basketball also announced that NBA Development League Austin Toros head coach Brad Jones and Idaho Stampede head coach Randy Livingston will serve as court coaches during the USA’s Oct. 14-22 training camp.

The coaching staff is mainly comprised of coaches from the NBA D-League and though a final roster isn’t set yet, the players participating will all be D-League affiliated players.

“I’m excited for the opportunity to work with such great coaches and players as they prepare to represent USA in the Pan American Games,” said Jones.

Since the NBA D-League isn’t set to begin until mid November the opportunity for Jones and the other D-League coaches to take a trip to Mexico and compete in competitive basketball is one that can be a good kick-off to their 2011-12 season in the D-League since that may be the only competitive basketball to watch with the NBA Lockout still in session.
