Toros Update: Mahinmi, Langford Named to D-League All-Star Team

Ian MahinmiThe D-League today announced the rosters for the 2008 D-League All-Star game. Two members of the Austin Toros who have spent time with the Spurs, Ian Mahinmi and Keith Langford, made the blue team. Jeremy Richardson, who has also been called up this season, will be representing the Fort Wayne Mad Ants on the blue team.
They join 18 other D-League players, including 11 call-ups to round out the blue and red rosters, which will be led by honorary captains Lenny Wilkens and Rick Barry.
Mahinmi was called up by the Spurs for the second time this season at the start of the rodeo road trip, but he has since been re-assigned to the Toros, where he is averaging 18.5 points, 8 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game. Langford leads the Toros and is third in the D-League with 24 points per game to go along with 6 rebounds.

Spurs coach Gregg Popovich made the trek up to Austin on Saturday to watch the Toros take on the Utah Flash (Toros won 105-100 in OT). During halftime, he was interviewed about the Spurs rodeo road trip and his thoughts on the Toros and the players the Spurs have brought up this season.

Toros Acquire Serge Angounou

The Toros announced today that they acquired 6-8, 236 pound forward Serge Angounou out of Arizona State and product of the D-League open tryout system. Angounou played with the Albuquerque Thunderbirds through January and averaged five points and four rebounds in 16 minutes. Angounou replaces Kris Lang who left the team. Angounou will wear jersey number 53 and will join the team on Friday in McAllen, Texas where the Toros take on the Rio Grande Valley Vipers.
In other roster moves, the Toros waived rookie forward Eric Dawson due to injury and reacquired Kenton Paulino, a 6-1 guard from the University of Texas. Paulino was waived earlier in the season due to injury.
Upcoming Schedule
