Torts Cautious About Del Zotto, Erixon Standout Performances

Dan Rosen at NHL.com reports that despite Michael Del Zotto and Tim Erixon having standout performances against HC Sparta yesterday, John Tortorella is trying to quell the excitement by saying a lot of it had to do with the larger ice surface…

“There is more room and it’s hard to take time and space (away),” Tortorella said. “You could see we struggled with that in the first period. When we start playing in North America there is not going to be a lot of room — and these situations, Michael and Erixon, players like that, are going to have to thrive in if they want to continue to get ice time.

“But they did some good things (Thursday).”

Rosen says both Del Zotto and Erixon are expected to be back in the line-up today vs. Frolunda.

…while I’m not ready to say the Rangers can now count on them this year, it’s nice to see positive results from two guys who seemed to be struggling to find their game this preseason.
