Tito is going to earn his paycheck in the coming week as he makes some very difficult choices. Last night we witnessed the end of David Ortiz’s leash when he was pinch hit for late in the game. Francona is going to have to decide how many AB’s he is going to give Ortiz to find his swing before replacing him with Lowell, a platoon situation is very likely.
Then there is the rotation decision. Matsuzaka pitched well for the PawSox and will rejoin the Red Sox after one more minor league start. Does he rejoin the rotation? If he does, who goes to the pen? There are no easy answers in this one and Tito will feel the heat if he makes the wrong choice.
