Good news! The Angels finally did something at the Winter Meetings!
Bad news! All they did was acquire catcher Drew Butera… on purpose.

Butera is a glove-only veteran catcher who can moonlight as the default position player who pitches in blowout games, so that’s a nice added bonus. Also, my female friends assure me that he is fairly handsome. Basically, he’s a good looking Jeff Mathis. Since Butera costs almost nothing, his spot on the roster isn’t a guarantee, but there is very little reason to believe that he won’t be the back-up catcher for the Halos come Opening Day.
And, yes, I actually dedicated a whole post to the acquisition of Drew Butera. And, no, I don’t know what’s wrong with me.
