Andre Miller finally got his wish and made it out of Denver
Entering this year’s trade deadline, the Nuggets made it a top priority to ship PG Andre Miller away from the team while receiving a valuable piece or two in return. Washington was happy to oblige, and the Wizards pulled the trigger. Per the trade, the Wizards will send forward Jan Vesely to the Nuggets and guard Eric Maynor to the Sixers, while the Sixers also receive two second-round draft picks.
Washington Wizards
Bringing in Miller provides the Wizards with a veteran locker room presence as well as a solid backup behind John Wall. Through 54 games this season, the Wizards’ bench has been outscored by an average of roughly six points per game while being out-assisted by an average of 2.2 APG. Miller will certainly improve those numbers as the Wizards, currently fifth in the East, continue their playoff push. Losing deep bench players in Maynor and Vesely will have minimal impact on the Wizards’ play moving forward.

Denver
Miller had been in exile for quite sometime, and the Nuggets were finally able to unload their dead weight. However, with Miller’s departure and PG Nate Robinson out for the remainder of the season, the Nuggets remain extremely thin in the backcourt. The additions of Vesely and Houston Rockets G Aaron Brooks in a separate deal will add some much needed depth, but for a Nuggets team currently treading water in the Western Conference, their impact will not be enough to improve Denver’s chances of making the playoffs.

Philadelphia
You might as well rename the second round of the draft after Philadelphia; the Sixers have acquired four second-rounders (two in this deal and two in a separate deal) after heading into the trade deadline with three already. The Sixers have piled up an enormous amount of draft picks over the past year in efforts to continue their rebuilding process. GM Sam Hinkie deserves a medal. Well done.
