Lost in all the roster predictions has been the fullback position. The Cowboys declined to re-sign Tyler Clutts, and they have not addressed the position in free agency or the draft. We now know the Cowboys plan for the position.
Bryan Broaddus at DallasCowboys.com had previously mentioned:
I had heard there was a shot that Keith Smith was. https://t.co/UKCsuMcMJg

And now we know who the other player will be — Rod Smith:
The Cowboys are moving LB Keith Smith to fullback. He'll compete for the fullback job on this year's team with RB Rod Smith.

The stage has been set for training camp. Keith Smith vs Rod Smith.
Typically when the Cowboys have moved players from one position to another it’s usually a kiss of death as far as their time goes in Dallas. We’ve seen it many times, it’s an experiment they’re hoping will payoff. If neither is able to win the FB battle, the Cowboys could just jettison the position all together or sign a free agent.
At first glance I would think Rod Smith may have the inside track on winning the battle since he’s a running back trying out for fullbacl, and he has the size. Keith Smith is probably on borrowed time being that he’s a LB moving to the offensive side of the ball, I just don’t see that working out.
