Day 13 morning practice notes

The Raiders completed their penultimate practice before the their preason opener in Dallas this morning. It was a limited contact affair as the team continuned their preparations for the season. They have an afternoon session scheculed for 4:20 and then tomorrow will be a travel day.

  • Darrius Heyward-Bey had another strong practice.

  • Colt Brennan will be the third quarterback in Dallas. This will be his best chance to make a case for the third quarterback job over Kyle Boller or Charlie Frye.
  • They did some work at the end of practice simulating facing the Cowboys. With the possible exception of the third game where the starters play the most, there is very little game planning for the opposition in training camp. This is just practice for that type of practice.
  • Stanford Routt had a rough practice.
  • Dallas will be the first opportunity for the offensive line to cut block.
  • Lamarr Houston dropped a pass as a goal line fullback. His spot on roster is still safe though.

Jacoby Ford (quadriceps), Charlie Frye (wrist), Bruce Gradkowski (groin), Paul Hubbard (hamstring), Luke Lawton (concussion), Darren McFadden (hamstring), Jay Richardson (knee), and Chaz Schilens (foot)are all out for the Dallas game.
