Many of the offseason questions for the Minnesota Vikings were coming down to if Adrian Peterson would be in uniform or not. Although he made the picture a touch more clear when he attended OTAs earlier in the month, the Vikings are in line to be one of 2015-16 surprise teams with the addition of Mike Wallace and growth of Teddy Bridgewater, not to mention a potential star receiver on the rise in Charles Johnson.
CBSSports.com recently produced an article indicating the travel miles for each team during the upcoming season. The Vikings appeared 19th on the list out of 32 teams, with an expected travel of 14,394 miles. With secondary market Vikings tickets prices provided by TiqIQ.com and travel logistics from Hipmunk.com, below are the three most expensive road games for the Purple People Eaters and the options available to attend each game.
10/4/2015 | Denver Broncos vs. Minnesota Vikings | Sports Authority Field At Mile High | Average Price: $506.60 | Get-in Price: $174
Getting to Denver to watch Peyton Manning and the Broncos take on the Vikings will require a plane, as the 900-mile drive would take over 13 hours. Minneapolis flights to Denver through Hipmunk cost around $188 for a round trip and has an average flight time of just around two hours. It could easily be worth it for Vikings fans if this is Manning’s final season, as some are anticipating.
11/1/2015 | Chicago Bears vs. Minnesota Vikings | Soldier Field | Average Price: $328.85 | Get-in Price: $110
Driving to Chicago to get to Soldier Field by Sunday is possible for Vikings fans. The just-over 400-mile trip would take about six-and-a-half hours, however. For those wanting a shorter trip, nonstop round trip flights to Chicago take about an hour-and-a-half, and costs a reasonable $106.20 for one of the more heated division rivalries in the NFC North.
1/3/2016 | Green Bay Packers vs. Minnesota Vikings | Lambeau Field | Average Price: $291.54 | Get-in Price: $160
Lambeau Field is the closest destination of the three, less than 300 miles away, but would still be around a four-hour trip by car. To cut the travel time down to an hour, round trip flights cost about $300 through Hipmunk to arrive in Milwaukee. It may be in the best interest of Vikings fans to load up the car for a football road trip when they take on the Packers during the first weekend of 2016, and the final weekend of the NFL campaign.
