We keep rolling closer and closer to the start of Badger football and today we're celebrating being just 55 days away from the football being put into the air and the Gary Andersen era getting underway. It also means the career of our next man up in the countdown, Trent Denlinger, gets going.
Denlinger is an in-state product, earning honorable mention all-state honors as a member of the Cuba City football team. He plays offensive line for Wisconsin and with the extreme depth issues this team has should injuries occur expect him to be well in the mix to receive playing time. Denlinger has an interesting major, going to Wisconsin for nursing.
History of No. 55 at Wisconsin:
Chad Yocum (LB/DE, 1991-95): This number doesn't exactly jump off the page as one you'd love to have at Wisconsin on the whole and Yocum is the closest thing to a "star" this number has produced – EVER. He started as a freshman in 1991 and turned it up a notch, being named honorable mention All-Big Ten his sophomore season. However, injuries really limited him over the next two years and he would eventually redshirt. His final season he saw time in six games. His most memorable moment came in the 1992 upset of No. 12 Ohio State, having three sacks.
