Argh. Trevor Hoffman?
Ignore the fact that he is the all-time saves leader…he’s past 40, and–here is the most important part–was in San Diego’s pitcher friendly park. Lefties hit .341 against him last year, and he had a 5.08 ERA before the All-Star break…and, while he shined after the All-Star break, he only had 14 save opportunities after the break–not exactly pressure situations.
I had him on my fantasy team a year or two ago, and Hoffman was consistently in the bottom half of closers in K/9, although he did manage to go above 9.00 last year.
Please, PLEASE, do not sign Trevor Hoffman.
