Trey Scott Commits to Cincinnati

The Bearcats locked up a commitment for the class of 2015 with Trey Scott. Scott is a 6’7 power forward from Darien, Georgia. Scott is a 3 star recruit according to 24/7. He’s ranked 193 in their top 247. He’s not incredibly highly touted as of right now, but 3 stars is better than 1 star. Scott had offers from Alabama, Clemson, Georgia and Florida Atlantic. He also visited places like UAB.

Scott may not be the top 100 recruit as of yet, but his potential has him aiming towards those types of lists. In March of 2013, one site had him as someone who could blow up:

PF: Tre Scott, McIntosh Academy

The South Georgia big man has a little bit of buzz coming into the grassroots season thanks to flashes of brilliance last year with the Coastal Crew Rebels. Scott had a solid sophomore campaign and built upon what he did last spring and summer. The 6-foot-8 forward is showing off a mixture of inside/outside skills and will spend time with the Atlanta Celtics at various events this grassroots season. There’s enough intrigue there to pay close, close attention to his development.

In the Cincinnati dot com article about Scott’s commitment, Justin Young of Hoop Scene told them the following about Scott:

“A lot of folks up there are probably going to say, ‘Who?’ ” Young said. “He’s from a tiny little coastal town of 700 people. He’s one of the most consistent guys I’ve seen down here over the last couple of years in his class. He seems to always find a way. If he’s not scoring, he’s blocking shots or making great passes. I could see where he fits (UC coach Mick) Cronin’s style. He has a non-stop motor and he’s really versatile. He may not have a lot of sexiness nationally, but he’ll help them in a lot of different ways.”

It sounds like Scott is a player that can grow and be molded. By the time he is a junior or senior, he could be a player. We’ve seen those types of big men roll through Cincinnati before, quite successfully I might add.

With Scott coming to Cincinnati, the Bearcats will have 1 scholarship, as of now, left for 2015. They are in on some higher profile recruits so we’ll see how that goes. Right now, they landed some potential for the future. Welcome, Trey Scott.
