Apparently this Skype thing is working out for JoePa.

Lions 247 is reporting that Penn State received another huge boost to their 2012 recruiting class this morning when CB Armani Reeves, of West Roxbury, MA, announced his intentions to don the blue and white during a press conference held at his school.

The 5’10’’, 185-pound Reeves is a 4-star recruit according to Scout.com. He is rated as the 10th best CB in the class of 2012.

The Ringer lists his hands, positioning and versatility as the positive aspects of his game. Reeves also has great speed, running the 40-yard dash in 4.41 seconds.

According to his Scout.com page, Armani also received scholarship offers from Notre Dame, Michigan, Stanford, Boston College, Northwestern, Missouri and Iowa, among others. He had recently narrowed his decision down to just Penn State, Notre Dame and Michigan before picking the Lions.

During his junior year at Catholic Memorial School, Reeves had 37 tackles and 4 interceptions. On offense, he had 1,701 total yards and 16 touchdowns. He also returned two punts to the house.

The news out of West Roxbury caps off a big week for the Nittany Lions in which they received verbals from two other highly touted recruits, WR Eugene Lewis of Plymouth, PA and DT Tommy Schutt of Glen Ellyn, IL. This catapulted the Lions up to the #13 spot in Scout.com’s 2012 recruiting class rankings, and the addition of Reeves could help bump them into the top 10.

Reeves has a good athletic bloodline as well. His first cousin is NBA Hall of Famer Charles Barkley.

He joins the class of 2012 as the 16th member, and the seventh on the defensive side of the ball. Reeves becomes the second Catholic Memorial player in the class, as OLB Camren Williams committed in March. Williams has been a very active recruiter for the Nittany Lions, even going as far as Facebook messaging every class of 2012 recruit that was offered a scholarship by Penn State. After the news of Lewis and Schutt hit twitter, Williams hinted that his high school teammate might be joining the class as well, saying “More will come!”.
