TU: Cincinnati Losing Ground With Continued Recruiting Decline

According to the 247Sports team rankings, Cincinnati’s recruiting rankings have declined in every year that Tommy Tuberville has been head coach. In fact, the Bearcats’ finish of No. 76 in the country (7th AAC) for the 2016 class is their worst mark since 2008.

Trying to stay on top of any potential moves to a Power 5 conference in the coming years, Tuberville acknowledged that he and his coaching staff went up against some of the FBS’ elite programs to attract top talent. Unfortunately, Cincinnati took a gigantic swing and barely got by with a foul tip, coming away with no five- or four-star talent.

Now entering his fourth season following a 7-6 (4-4 American) campaign that began with the Bearcats as the outright conference favorite, Tuberville heads back to the plate staring down a 1-and-2 count, hoping to avoid a strikeout in what is likely to be the final coaching stop of his coaching career.
