TU: Navy to continue ‘pressing forward’ under Ken Niumatalolo

Winning 11 games at a service academy football program is simply unheard of.

The United States Military Academy (Army) has averaged 2.9 wins per season since the start of the new millennium with one lone above-.500 mark (2010). The Air Force Academy has fared much better, producing 6.9 wins with 10 bowl game appearances, and that includes an 18-9 record the last two years.

Ken Niumatalolo, however, has experienced a different kind of success with the Naval Academy. The Midshipmen have won about 7.1 games per season since 2000, but that number increases to 8.5 if you start at 2008 — when Niumatalolo took over the program.
