Tuesday Links – Mark McGwire Admits to Steroid Use, Pistons Lose 13th Straight, & Steve Breaston a.k.a. Razor Ramon

I didn’t get a chance to see much of the ongoings in the sporting world last night, as I was at a Kid Cudi concert in Ann Arbor. By the looks of things, it was a pretty slow Monday. Despite the lull, we’ve still got a full set of links for you to start off your morning right.

  • It took a while, but Mark McGwire finally admitted to steroid use during his career, including during his record-breaking 1998 season. The news that he actually used steroid isn’t really news to anyone, but the fact that McGwire is finally talking about it is what all the hoopla is about. Hopefully his willingness to tell the world what he did will change the minds of the Hall of Fame voters, because I think he belongs in Cooperstown.
  • The Pistons dropped their 13th straight game last night, losing to the Chicago Bulls 120-87. Yes, you read that right: 13 straight losses, worst run since the 1993-94 season. They officially have not won in a month (December 12th was their last win). Check out Detroit Bad Boys for some post-game analysis. The Pistons go for their first win of the decade tonight against the Wizards.
  • I’m already a huge Steve Breaston fan, being that he played his college ball at the greatest university in the world. But if he’s imitating Razor Ramon after touchdowns? Looks like I have a new favorite player. Check out Tirico Suave for some other WWE-themed TD celebration ideas.
  • I don’t know why LaDanian Tomlinson is doing the electric glide (is it like the electric slide?) but this video couldn’t be ignored. And yes, this will probably be in your head all day. [via Hot Clicks]
  • As a Michigan student I hate to say this, but I have to give credit where it’s due, even if it’s in Columbus. Ohio State basketball player Mark Titus’ blogClub Trillion is an insanely entertaining read. If you don’t get the name, click here. Titus has been featured by the New York Times, among other news outlets, for his work.
  • I don’t know what’s up with the recent trend of NFL fans doing stupid shit after their favorite team wins, but a fan in Baltimore ran around his yard in a shock collar after the Ravens’ win on Sunday. I like how the dog tries to tell its owner that he’s a dumbass for putting the collar on (40-second mark). [via Deadspin]
  • I missed this before, but the Minnesota Timberwolves offered F Al Jefferson to the Indiana Pacers for G Danny Granger. The Pacers swiftly (and wisely) turned down the deal. The Pacers already have a solid young nucleus in their frontcourt, and need Granger’s outside game to offset that. On the other hand, Minnesota has a decent backcourt and needs Jefferson’s post presence on both ends. Jefferson says that he’s not going anywhere. Hopefully the Minnesota front office is listening.

Rob’s Highlight of the Day

Last weekend was so full of awesome plays that I could (and probably will) use an entire week’s worth of highlights from the few games that went on. Today’s highlight is Ray Rice’s 83-yard TD run on the first play of the Ravens-Patriots game on Sunday. My favorite part is Rice blowing by safety Brandon Meriweather at about the :08 mark and turning on the afterburners. [via Hot Clicks]
