Ross Ohlendorf has not been very good in his four starts this year. He’s walked more than he’s struck out and he’s giving up a huge amount of flyballs. The only reason he’s not saddled with Charlie Morton’s stat line at the moment is that he’s been lucky in how often those flyballs have left the park. It’s true that three of his starts have come after a DL stint necessitated by a stiff back, but it’d be awfully nice to see him start pitching better.
It’s also worth noting that Andy LaRoche is out of the lineup for what’s now the fourth straight day with back problems, so Neil Walker is back at third base again. Ryan Church is also getting a night off, which is nice to see because he’s been playing a lot and he’s not actually doing anything to deserve that.
For the Reds, Bronson Arroyo makes his third start against the Pirates of 2010. If not for the five-run inning the Pirates laid on him back in April he’d be absolutely dominating against them this year, because he’s only allowed one run in the other 12 innings he’s pitched against the Pirates.

Ryan Doumit’s huge homer and Paul Maholm’s great start resulted in quite a few Clemente points last night, as several people had one of them as their pick. Joel Hanrahan’s save-blowing homer made him the Cangelosi and since relievers are rarely picked, the only Cangelosi point went out to WallyR for having Ryan Church, who was the runner-up to Hanrahan thanks to another miserable night at the plate as his Cangi.
