Ah, the age-old question: Is it okay to tweet at a college athlete?
Well, maybe it’s not that old. Twitter has become prominent as a social network for the media and various digital platforms over the last few years, making those with higher “celeb” status’ thoughts as justified, newsworthy bits. That is cool. But it can also be kind of a weird thing when you dig deeper for the responses.
We have to remember that these are STUDENT-athletes; 18-, 19-,20-, and 21-year-old kids that oversleep classes, play video games, binge drink on the weekends (and sometimes on Mondays because college), and yes they actually read your tweets because they’re also an active member of the digital generation.
Here are some recent examples of tweets that are lingering in twitterverse. (Note: I’ll keep it mostly AAC-related.) It’s up to you to decide if they’re socially acceptable:
Never take **** from an egg.
@MW_XIV get your $hit together or you should be benched. Body language sucks for a starting qb. Truth hurts

@Capn_Carden5 Good game! Way to use your legs to get up the field. That’s what open offensive opportunities.

//platform.twitter.com/widgets.jsThen there’s the life of the college kicker. After missing the potential game-winning field goal against USC last week, Arizona’s Casey Skowron took some major backlash — some far worse than this example (including multiple death threats):
@CSkowron11 you suck bro. Choke. Just one of three you missed and we win. Stay in school, nfl never calling. — intheyear3000 (@SchwankeP) October 12, 2014
