Twins Blast Away on Sox Pitching!

Allen Webster was called up to make a spot start for the Red Sox when Hanrahan went on the DL.  Unfortunately, he wouldn't be able to get out of the 2nd inning and Felix Doubront would end up pitching as if it was his start anyways.

Allen Webster didn't last through the 2nd inning and put the team in an early hole.  Webster gave up 2 runs in the 1st inning.  The Sox bats, including a grand slam by Jonny Gomes, not only tied the game, but got the lead back for Webster in the bottom of the 1st inning.  It wouldn't last long.  By the end of the 2nd inning the Twins would be leading  11-6.  Doubront came into the game in the 2nd inning and while he gutted through the outing, he wasn't a lot better than Webster was.  Doubront pitched 5.1 innings while giving up 12 hits and 6 runs.  However, he threw 105 pitches in relief and saved the bullpen from being completely fried from Webster's short start.

This game was an ugly one to watch.  By the end, the Sox fell to the Twins 15-8.  After the 2nd inning, I was hoping for those rain showers that we were all so concerned about.  The rain never came and unfortunately, the Sox pitching was unable to get it together and put a stop to the Twins offense.
