<![CDATA[The Sox had a day game before heading home to face the red hot Detroit Tigers. The Sox had Clay Buchholz on the mound and while he wasn't horrible, he also wasn't crisp. The Sox got into a hole early and they were able to tie the game late, but in a moment of deja vu Andrew Miller gave up the winning walk off run in extra innings.
Clay Buchholz gave up 3 runs in the 2nd inning to have the Sox playing catch up all game. Parmalee hit a 2 run homerun and then Dozier hit an RBI sac fly. Sox 0-3. After that Clay hunkered down and didn't give up any more runs, but the damage was done. In the 4th the Sox got on the scoreboard when Mike Carp hit an RBI infield single to score Bogaerts. Sox 1-3. Clay Buchholz pitched 6 innings and it technically qualifies as a quality start, but he left the mound looking down the barrel of a loss. Craig Breslow pitched a scoreless 7th and then Chris Capuano pitched a scoreless 8th. In the top of the 9th the Sox needed to score at least 2 runs in order to keep this game alive. That is just what they did. Will Middlebrooks came to the plate with 2 outs in the inning and the bases loaded. Middlebrooks hit a 2 run game tying RBI single. Sox 3-3. The Sox weren't able to get the lead, but they were able to force the Twins to extra innings. Andrew Miller pitched a scoreless 9th inning, however he wouldn't be able to do the same in the 10th. This is the second time in this series that Miller have been unable to keep the game scoreless and allowed the Twins to walk off.
