Desperate times call for desperate measures, right?
In need of a third baseman, the New York Mets announced Saturday that, after four seasons away, they’d be bringing Jose Reyes back. But not everyone was excited.
And why is that? Let’s re-cap.
Not only did the four-time All-Star bolt the Big Apple to join the Miami Marlins back in December 2011…but this past Halloween, Reyes was arrested and a accused of assaulting his wife. The charges would get dropped, but he’d serve a 52-game suspension.
You can imagine the reception the Reyes signing received on Twitter.
Forgot I was following Jose Reyes. Had to end that. I'm not supporting a wife beater that should be in jail

And frankly, baseball is not a court of law. I don’t need a jury to tell me that Jose Reyes is a bottom-feeding piece of shit.

So, fuck whoever decided signing Jose Reyes was a good idea. Feel bad for the teammates who have to play with that garbage human.

The Mets are coming apart at the seams. Bringing in a wife-beater is the best idea they could come up with? #LGM #JoseReyes

Disappointed with the Mets that they'd resign Jose Reyes, a piece of shit, abusive scumbag.

Disgusted by my @NewYorkMets signing of Jose Reyes. Wife beater & a loser.

The more I think about it, the more I think Jose Reyes can fuck off.

“I’m a human being. I made that one mistake,” Reyes said following his debut Sunday with the Brooklyn Cyclones. “It was a terrible mistake. I’m so sorry for that mistake. I’ve apologized to everyone. I’ve never been in trouble before. I need a second chance.”
So far, the date for Reyes’ “second chance” in New York has not been set.
