There are two things that I thought as the Pirates blew their lead in the eighth inning last night and turned what should’ve been a win into a loss against the Astros: 1.) This really sucks and 2.) All the Pirates really need to do against bad teams is win two out of three. That means that they have to win today, of course, but last night’s loss is hardly the end of the world even though it was massively disappointing.
That makes today a pretty important game, though. Kevin Correia starts against Wandy Rodriguez. Rodriguez has started against the Pirates twice this year. He shut them down once and got rocked once. Correia threw batting practice the last time he took the mound and I’m pretty concerned that the wheels are about to come flying off the Kevin Correia bandwagon.
First pitch today is at 2:05.
