Our friend Ryan Yamamoto of News 10, was able to grab a few minutes with Tyreke Evans early today from his youth basketball camp at Hardwood Palace in Rocklin, California. Thanks to Ryan and the News 10 crew who were nice enough to share their raw footage.
Here are some of the highlights:
- Evans has been working out at Santa Monica High School in Southern California during the lockout. Joining him is a star studded cast, which includes Derrick Rose, Russell Westbrook, Al Horford and JaVale McGee.
- Tyreke on the lockout: “You’ve just got to deal with it. It’s not in our hands, it’s in the owners.”
- Tyreke on playing in the Philippines: “It was fun. They love their basketball over there. The crowd was amazing.”
- Here is the quote of the day: “If there is a season, hopefully there will be, we will get to see me back to the way I was, aggressive going to the basket, finishing the way I am capable of finishing, just going out there and playing my game.”
According to Yamamoto, the camp drew about a hundred players on Monday and is still accepting new applicants. The fee is $200 per camper, ages 8-16 welcome. Click here for more details.
