Tyreke Evans’ stellar night not enough, losing streak continues

On a night where many thought the Kings would end their losing streak after being up by 28-points in San Antonio, Sacramento couldn’t hang on and lost 114-104, making it six straight losses.

The Kings just haven’t found a way to get up in the wins column. It’s not that they’re playing bad, but after making some moves before the trade deadline, the guys will need to adjust to each other.

The Kings are now averaging 97 points per game and also shooting 45 percent from the field, all while allowing opponents to score 107 points per game.

The Kings have seen some success through the young talent and new additions. In fact, Tyreke Evans went for 26 points last night, making him the Reno Dodge Power Performer.

Evans, former Memphis Tiger, usually finds his success from the mid range-paint area, having a difficulty in hitting the 3-pointer consistently. Last night against the Spurs, Evans shot 3-of-4 from beyond the arc.

Danny Green is one of the best defenders in the league and was fully aware of the offensive tendencies that Evans has and likes to do.

In this video, Green showcased great defense on Evans by closing him out right before the shot clock expired. However, Evans was able to quickly get his shot up right before Green went for the block. Great defense by Green, but better offense by Evans.

On this play, Manu Ginobili ran to chase Evans off the 3-point line and his teammate, Patty Mills, had to come over and help. Evans could’ve easily passed it back out to Darren Collison, but decided to go in for the easy finger roll.

Evans needs to perform like this every single night if the Kings have any aspirations of sneaking into the 8th seed. Tomorrow, the Kings will return home to take on the Wizards and try to snap their six game losing streak.
