Tyreke Evans talks 2011 NBA Draft

Caught up with Tyreke Evans a few hours ago, who’s back in Sacramento hosting a free basketball camp with the Positive Coaching Alliance and VSP the next two days for underprivileged kids in the area.  And with the draft just minutes away, Evans shared some of his thoughts.

He was however unable to comment on the blockbuster trade the Kings reportedly made this afternoon.  The Kings guard hadn’t yet received official word that the trade was a done deal from the team yet.

On the excitement of the draft:

I’ll be at a few of those parties tonight.   Celebrating with the Kings. whoever we pick.  Whatever happens, I don’t know yet, that’s up to the GM.  But I’m just looking forward to see what happens.

Talked with anyone you know who’s in the draft?

No not really, I’ve seen a few in Vegas… There’s guys out there working out and I just tell them congratulations and hopefully you get a good pick.  And hopefully you have a good NBA year.

Any prospects you like in particular?

I don’t know, there’s a few.  I like the kid that went to Arizona…Derrick Williams.  He’s pretty good.  He can play the three and the four, he can shoot.  You got Kemba (Walker) out there.  You got the kid from Kentucky (Brandon Knight).  DeMarcus (Cousins) says he’s pretty good. DeMarcus been with him at Kentucky a lot.  So there’s a lot of good guys in the draft that can go out there and play.  And I’m just looking forward to seeing what they can in the NBA.

The NBA Draft begins at 4:30 pm PST on ESPN and ESPN 3.
