Tyson Chandler wins Defensive Player of the Year. KG 5th

Kevin garnett standig against Atlanta game 2

KG went from being a shell of his former self and disintegrating before our very eyes to 5th in the Defensive Player of the Year voting.

Tyson Chandler won the award, but Garnett got two first place votes, nine second place votes, and seven third place votes.  That's a hell of a turnaround from what we saw earlier in the season.

Avery Bradley got two third place votes, which I find to be especially amazing considering his impact on this team and the league is relatively recent.  To have won over a couple of voters who thought only two people in the league played better defense than him is amazing.

Congrats to Chandler, who was the first Knick to ever win the award.  The top 10 (via Jess Camerato):

  1. Tyson Chandler
  2. Serge Ibaka
  3. Dwight Howard
  4. LeBron James
  5. Kevin Garnett
  6. Tony Allen
  7. Andre Iguodala
  8. Shawn Marion
  9. Luol Deng
  10. Josh Smith
