In a game that was closer then the final score indicates, the UCONN men defeated the Waves of Pepperdine by the final score of 88-66. Leading the way for the Huskies was AJ Price with 17 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals. Price did have trouble taking care of the ball during the game committing 7 turnovers. Doug Wiggins added 16 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and just 1 turnover.
Two Huskies were perfect from the floor during the game. Hasheem Thabeet finished with 15 pts on 7 for 7 shooting. He made 1 of 2 from the foul line. Thabeet had 7 rebounds and amazingly didn’t block a shot during the game. Jeff Adrien was 6 for 6 from the field adding 14 pts. He was 2 of 3 from the foul line. Adrien had 7 rebounds and 2 blocks.
Stanley Robinson led the team in rebounds with 9 playing one of his better games of the season. He scored 8 pts. UCONN’s leading scorer, Jerome Dyson, was held to 9 points.
UCONN shot 51% from the floor in the game. They shot 68% (19 of 28) from the free throw line. Next up for the Huskies is Coppin State on Dec 27th at 7:00 PM at the Hartford Civic Center. That game will not be televised.
Notes: Earlier this week, Jerome Dyson was named the Big East Rookie of the Week for games played Dec 10th to Dec 16th.
