The UConn Huskies women’s basketball team was chosen as the No. 1 overall seed for the 2010 NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament and will be heading to the Dayton Regional.
The Huskies will kickoff their run to San Antonio on Sunday, March 21st against the Southern University Jaguars at the Ted Constant Convocation Center in Norfolk, VA. The game will start at 12:16 p.m. and will be televised on ESPN2. The winner play the winner of the Temple/James Madison game on Tuesday, March 23rd.
The Huskies are one of seven Big East teams to make the NCAA Tournament. The others are the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, West Virginia Mountaineers, Georgetown Hoyas, St. John’s Red Storm, DePaul Blue Demons and the Rutgers Scarlet Knights.
The other No. 1 seeds were the Stanford Cardinal, Nebraska Cornhuskers and Tennessee Volunteers.
If both UConn and Tennessee can get to San Antonio, they’d meet up in the semifinals.
The NCAA Women’s Tournament will get underway on Saturday at noon on the ESPN family of networks.
