Another non-shocker from the world of women’s college basketball as the UConn Huskies are the unianimous No. 1 team in the AP Preseason Women’s Basketball Top 25 Poll. They received all 40 first place votes as they look to defend their national championship from last year.
Joining the Huskies from the Big East in the top 25 are Notre Dame (4), DePaul (17), Louisville (23) and Rutgers (25). Pittsburgh was the only team in the Big East among the others receiving votes.
After exhibition games against St. Rose College (11/5) and Vanguard (11/9), the Huskies will kickoff the 2009-10 season against Northeastern at Gampel Pavilion on November 14th.
